The summer months are traditionally a time of life slowing down for a while, especially for those whose lives are ruled by the academic calendar. The kids are home and, most likely, suffering from various levels of boredom. The parents, though still occupied with their regular jobs, have a reprieve from shuttling children to and from their many activities. In addition, the hot temperatures and high humidity cause a certain amount of lethargy in most individuals, causing a natural slowdown in scheduling.
Despite the heat, we at The Chamber are not slowing down with our many events. Our Golf Scramble was held on June 16, followed by the June Business After Hours, both held at the Bloomington Country Club. Currently we are getting ready for the Women Excel Bloomington Luncheon that will be held at Chapman’s on July 13. Rounding out the month will be the July Business After Hours at BioLife Plasma Services on July 29.
In August we will be holding a Federal Focus Reception and program to follow with Congressman Baron Hill. This event will be held at Deer Park Manor on August 11. Shortly after this event we will be shifting gears as the kids head back to school, providing us with many opportunities to test our time management skills while feeding our families, helping with homework, etc. I imagine we will all be looking forward to the August Business After Hours on August 26 at Bloomington Hospital by the time it rolls around!
As you can see, despite the general feeling of deceleration throughout this community during the summer months, here at the Chamber we continue to schedule events that provide top-notch programming to our members. And we are very happy to host these events in air-conditioned buildings!
If you have any questions or comments please feel free to leave them below. We would love some feedback on our events, what you like about them and what you would change, so that we can make each event the best that it can be.
